Burns Bog

 

Description

Burns Bog is a raised peat bog located in Delta, British Columbia, Canada. It is the largest undeveloped urban landmass in North America. It is also the only known raised peat bog in a Mediterranean climate. Burns Bog is a treasure of a special kind, in part due to its sheer size, making it home to many beautiful and rare plants, animals and insects. It is also a green space that provides the Lower Mainland with priceless services such as air and water filtration.

 

Flat paths great for biking.

 

Cost

Society offers tours - $5/person.

You can easily tour the bog on your own.

 

Getting There

1. Follow Highway #91 (East West Connector) South onto the Alex Fraser Bridge. After the bridge take the first exit (Nordel Way). Stay to the right and follow the signs to River Road.
2. Drive along Nordel Way and turn right at the second set of lights onto Nordel Court.

Bus DIrections

1. Take the 640 Tsawwassen bus from Scott Road Skytrain station to the Sidetrack Pub on River Road.
2. Follow the GVRD access road south into the Bog.
